Since truckers are on the road for the majority of the day, they face a big dilemma with the food they can eat. Many truckers opt for fast food, as it is the quickest and often the cheapest option. However, there has been a lot of progress in the trucking industry that allows drivers to cook healthy meals from the convenience of their truck! Continue reading for a few tips on how to cook fresh food while on the road.
Mini Fridge
The most essential appliance to have in your truck is a mini fridge, as you must have a place to store your fresh and frozen foods. A mini fridge doesn’t offer the most space, but it should be plenty for food and drinks for one person. Drivers can keep drinks cold, and keep save perishable items for when it’s time to cook.
Portable Stove
As for cooking appliances, a portable stove is a great appliance for truckers. They are also known as a “lunchbox stove,” and can heat food up to 300 degrees. Heat up your leftovers in the fridge, frozen meals, or canned foods from the comfort of your truck for a quick meal.
Electric Skillet
An electric skillet is also a great cooking appliance, as it just needs to be plugged into a cigarette lighter to turn on. A skillet allows drivers to cook a variety of foods, including eggs, meat, vegetables, and much more. For those days when you don’t want to stop for fast food for dinner, an electric skillet is perfect for making well-rounded meals.
Microwave
A microwave is an appliance that everyone needs, as it is the best option for warming up leftovers in the fridge or cooking a frozen meal. Truckers won’t always have the time to cook meals on the stove, but there are plenty of “microwave-ready” meals you can find in the grocery store, including rice, pasta, oatmeal, and much more.
Blender
You may not think of a blender as a necessity, but you can make some very healthy drink options right from your truck in no time at all. Smoothies filled with fruits and vegetables are a great way to start the day, and making them on your own are much healthier (not to mention cheaper) than buying them from Starbucks or a fast food stop. Fill the blender with fresh or frozen fruits and juice for a great breakfast or mid-day energy-boost!
