Which trailer best fits your truck? Learn about the different types of trailers here.

If you have a company that requires hauling loads across cities, regions, or even countries, then you will need a fleet of trucks that you can rely on. At Evan Transportation, you can find the trucking service that best meets your needs. In fact, you can choose more than one service. We offer truck shipping services, but we also rent out trailers for trucks along with commercial storage units. If you are looking to rent trailers and use your own trucks, Evan Transportation has these common types of truck trailers.

Dry Van Trailers

Dry van trailers are the basic trailers in which you would haul general freight. Its large interior gives you flexibility in how you package and load items, but generally, the freight should not be perishable, oversized, or oddly shaped. You can learn more about general freight shipping here.

Refrigerated Trailers

Refrigerated trucks are also called reefers. They use electricity to power their refrigeration, so be sure that your truck has the capacity to connect electrical power to the reefer. Reefers are excellent transportation devices for perishable food, laboratory specimens, and other types of inventory. Evan Transportation is happy to rent out as many reefers as you need in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Flatbed Trailers

Flatbed trailers are excellent for transporting oversized and oddly shaped items like tractors, construction equipment, and other ungainly inventory. If the freight needs weather protection, a tarp is a good solution. Be sure, for any trailer and freight, that your truck is able to carry the weight. You can do this by checking your truck’s GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating.)

Tank Trailers

Tank trailers carry liquids and other non-solid materials like asphalt mix or cement. However, they are generally best for liquids such as consumable liquids, chemicals, fuel, and much more. For any type of load, including liquids, check that your truck and trailer’s braking systems are compatible.

Specialty Trailers

Specialty trailers generally refer to trailers that transport livestock, horses, vehicles, or something else that does not fit into any of the above categories.
